Progress over Perfection
EVERY JANUARY, gyms overflow, people set ambitious goals, and annual “resolutions” are made. The cultural rhythm is familiar. Yet by February, that burst of enthusiasm often begins to fade. As daily routines settle in and the novelty wears off, motivation dwindles. “Motivation isn’t meant to carry you,” says Pilates instructor Lee Vallely. “Consistency is. Discipline is. But most importantly, it’s about focusing on who you want to be, not just what you want to do.”
